Patty George Pressed Glass Banana Stands look similar to a flat cake stand with the two sides turned up into a U shape. They were originally made to separate the banana's from the other fruit as they would ripen too quickly . These Banana Stands make wonderful display pieces for napkins, bread sticks, jelly rolls, grapes or flowers. I have even sold them to hold the bridal cakes at weddings.

Banana Stands are wonderful today for holding napkins, jelly
rolls, breadsticks,  flowers, grapes and even bananas.  Originally produced
to display a bunch of bananas, this dish would keep the bananas separate
from the other fresh fruit as not to ripen each other too  quickly.  Banana's
were a premium item and were featured proudly  in a  prominent place on
the table in this special stand.
